Nice of Microsoft to screw up the sleep/hibernation feature when they released Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. However, it’s even nicer of them not to fix it… that is unless you manual do it yourself.
So, if you’ve been having trouble getting your computer to wake up from sleep and/or hibernation, check this fix out over at the Microsoft support site. Symptoms of this problem are:
Your Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer may unexpectedly stop responding or experience random memory corruption when you resume from standby or from hibernation.
Of course, both of my Windows XP boxes suffer from these symptoms. I’ve downloaded the fix on one of my machines, and it seems to have done the trick.
Of course, the bigger fix is Vista… or perhaps the more permanent fix of OS X.
The latest entry in the Museum of the Hard to Believe is the new top-level .mobi domain. Besides the obvious fact that they should have made it at most three letters instead of four, this is supposed to help the mobile web?
I guess from now on it will be incumbent on users to navigate to the proper “mobile” domain to enjoy a true mobile experience. Like computers can’t figure this out for ya?
Well, if this is the way things are going to work, how about some other “useful” top-level domains like…
