Tivo Hedging Bets in the Future of Media

I ran across this post talking about how Diggnation is now getting distribution within Tivo’s “Podcaster” area. Interesting in that more and more “user-generated” content is being created on the web… and that Tivo is hedging its bets on where the creative center of gravity is heading in the media word. So in the future, maybe you’ll just buy a Tivo because it is a great device for receiving and storing video web content? Sort of like a real video iPod.

If open, web-based distribution of media becomes at all successful — with a big question on the “if” — the major media companies of today will eventually need to respond… or become the major media companies of yesterday.

Zoinger says, the change will be total.
