Alibris for Used Books

Permalink | ~ Internet

I just ordered a book, Understanding Weather & Climate, from Alibris. I’ve been interested in this book for a while now, but at almost $100 new it sure seemed a bit expensive (it’s a textbook which is why it’s so expensive… you know, college students can really afford pricey books). Fortunately, sites like Alibris have a wide selection of used books, so I was able to pick it up for less than $10. I’m saving a lot, but I am getting the second edition of the book which was published in 2000 as opposed to the latest third edition published in 2003. But really, how much can a book on weather change in three years?

Oh, the real reason why I am blogging this trivial purchase is that I am testing out Flock. So far Flock seems to have some interesting features especially for blogging. However, it seems that a lot of the features could be incorporated into Firefox via some plugins. I’ve invested a lot of time tweaking Firefox, so it’s going to be hard for me to switch. That said, Flock is definitely doing some innovative stuff (e.g., the favorites/del.icio.us integration, favorites manager, etc.).
