My Latest Firefox Extensions

Permalink | Comment (0) ~ Firefox - extensions

Here’s a list of my current installed Firefox extensions. The one you can’t read is Tabbrowser Extensions. See my Firefox page for more details on the extensions.

I hope these all work with Firefox 1.5.

Find HDTV Over-the-Air Channels in Your Hood

…at antennaweb.org. Oh, it also tells you what type of antenna you need too. And the clickable map interface is pretty sweet (although, not using Google Maps yet).

This is really useful if you are building a Windows Media Center PC. The only way you can record HDTV easily (or at all??) is using the over-the-air broadcasts.

Emails from Nowhere

Permalink | Comment (0) ~ Internet

Today I sent myself an email from nowhere from my friend’s Treo. Always on is really coming… even to areas you might not expect.

Just a reminder to have myself check for HDTV channels

P.S. The small intro photo is from actionjax’s Flickr stream.

Alibris for Used Books

Permalink | Comment (0) ~ Internet

I just ordered a book, Understanding Weather & Climate, from Alibris. I’ve been interested in this book for a while now, but at almost $100 new it sure seemed a bit expensive (it’s a textbook which is why it’s so expensive… you know, college students can really afford pricey books). Fortunately, sites like Alibris have a wide selection of used books, so I was able to pick it up for less than $10. I’m saving a lot, but I am getting the second edition of the book which was published in 2000 as opposed to the latest third edition published in 2003. But really, how much can a book on weather change in three years?

Oh, the real reason why I am blogging this trivial purchase is that I am testing out Flock. So far Flock seems to have some interesting features especially for blogging. However, it seems that a lot of the features could be incorporated into Firefox via some plugins. I’ve invested a lot of time tweaking Firefox, so it’s going to be hard for me to switch. That said, Flock is definitely doing some innovative stuff (e.g., the favorites/del.icio.us integration, favorites manager, etc.).
