Firefox Customization Page Updated

Permalink | Comment (0) ~ Firefox

Linked to over in the sidebar, the Zoinger Firefox Customization page has finally been updated from alpha to beta state. I still have a lot of stuff that I want to clean up on the page. In addition, I want to document some of the UI tweaks that I’ve done for Firefox in more detail and post some additional screen shots.

However, for now, here’s a screen shot of my final build of Firefox after I finished installing all extensions, changing the theme to Rein, hacking the UserChrome.css file and tweaking the UI.

Del.icio.us Customer Service Rocks!

Permalink | Comment (0) ~ Del.icio.us

I was having some trouble over on the ZoingerPosts del.icio.us site (home of the tagged Zoinger post archive… which I am going to write about soon). The trouble was with one of my tagged bundles that I couldn’t seem to edit or delete. I was getting bummed out, because I had spent a lot of time tagging all of my posts for this account. The undeletable tagged bundle was really messing up the UI that I wanted for the site.

Kind of in desperation, I wrote to Joshua the founder of Del.icio.us. I figured that this would be like any normal company’s “customer service” where you get a message back from some automatron or something… never really getting any kind of “service” at all. However, just a couple days later I received a message back from Joshua saying that he would look at it.

And to my surprise, only a couple of days after that, I was finally able to delete that annoying tagged bundle. Yahoo!

Reinstalling Firefox Today

Permalink | Comment (0) ~ Whatever!

I recently installed a bunch of new extensions to my Firefox build. I wanted to install them so I could test them out to see if I liked any of them. Unfortunately, the new extensions seem to have changed some of the Firefox behaviors. For example, I can’t get my “add to Del.icio.us” QuickLaunch (AKA, keyword shortcut) to pop up in a new window anymore. Some other stuff is screwed up too.

So… I’m going to reinstall Firefox to get a nice, fresh, clean build again. I’ll try to document how I customize Firefox from a fresh install, and update the Firefox Customization static page (which is linked to in the sidebar).
