I Want Tags, Not Categories — Gimme some Folksonomy
Permalink |Categories on blogs are totally useless. If you create a reasonable number — say like 10 or so so they’ll fit in the “sidebar”:10 — sooner or later all of your categories are going to be full of *LOTS* of posts. For example, in my “old blog”:1 I had one category (”Biz - Internet”) that already had 48 posts in it — _in only four months_! So when you click on the link to “Biz - Internet”:2 you get a page back with *48* posts. Useless!
I want tags… as in some “folksonomy”:3. I want to *tag* my posts, _not_ categorize my posts. I want a page like “this”:4, except specific to my posts. Kind of like “Del.ici.ous”:5, but for posts instead of bookmarks.
Come on Yahoo!, you bought Flickr… make this happen in your “blogging”:6 effort. It’d be cool. The “WordPress”:7 people should make this happen too. Oh, and “Typepad”:8 and “MSN”:9. Come on!
So, gin up some UI and some cool post tagging “bookmarklets”:11 and “giddy up”:12!
